Jamie McCarthy Trophy
Race day will also be a day of remembrance when we will take a moment to remember Jamie McCarthy who was a great person, friend, club mate and fellow runner to many. Jamie tragically passed away on February 14th 2018. The Jamie McCarthy Trophy is awarded to the winner of the Kinsale Regatta 5 mile race in his honour.

Jamie loved to run, train and race.. He always represented his club Riverstick/Kinsale AC, Schools (Kinsale community school, North Monastery Cork and University, Caroline Costal University) and Country at the highest possible level in sport. Jamie honoured his country by representing Ireland on many occasions and was a member of the Irish junior team that won European cross country silver, in Heringsdorf, Germany in 2004.
A very rare but a very wonderful valued achievement for our country.
